The protective properties of corrosion protection paint are determined by the zinc content of the dry film. In zinc-containing paints, the percentage does not exceed 90-94%, so the lifetime of the coatings is up to 10 years. Zincor refers to zinc-rich coatings with a zinc content of 96%! It is the highest level among its peers.
The zinc reacts with water and oxygen and gives off its electrons to the metal substrate. This leads to the formation of an active (cathodic) protective layer, which is not permeable to rust. The surface layer also provides passive (barrier) protection. The double corrosion shock protects structures for up to 50 years.
Versatility of use. The zinc compound is used in industry, agriculture and construction. The paint is actively used in car repair shops, private workshops and forges. Suitable for local finishing and restoration of metal. Can be used for different grades of metal, welded structures, recoating and finishing decorative painting.
Improved composition. The dry film contains the highest percentage of zinc with a purity of up to 99.99%. Neutral resins allow the zinc to move electrons and transfer them to the passive metal. A resin binder prevents cracking of the coating.
Double corrosion protection. Paints and enamels without zinc create only a surface layer. Zinc provides a maximum of two layers of metal protection. If the top layer is damaged, rust does not penetrate further and the coating is easily repaired.
Economical and easy to apply. Cold galvanizing saves time, resources and money on corrosion protection of metals. Basic painting skills are needed to apply the paint. If you follow the instructions, you can paint the product yourself. Zincor is used for cold galvanising metal structures without having to dismantle and transport them.
Timely restoration. If damaged areas are repaired in time, corrosion will not severely damage the surface layer. Additional protection is provided by the finishing coat. Alkyd or acrylic based paints or coloured paints can be used. In addition to protection against corrosion, they give decorative properties to the product.Zinc anti-corrosive paints can be used for the treatment of exterior and interior steelwork. Personal protective equipment (goggles, mask, gloves) is required. Protect eyes and exposed skin. Ensure good ventilation when working indoors. Carry out outdoor treatment away from the source of fire.
Surface preparation. The most important step in the preparation of metals for painting. The surface is thoroughly cleaned of rust and old coatings (if any). The surface is degreased and dried. Paint can be applied to firmly adherent rust.
Colouring. Allow the colour to warm up for 7-8 hours before use. Stir thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous mass. If necessary, dilute with solvent. The number of coats depends on the condition of the metal substrate and the conditions of use of the structure. The paint dries very fast. The second coat is applied after the previous one has set (after 20-40 min).
Application of zinc paint to the prepared surface should be carried out not later than 12 hours in the open air, 48 hours - indoors. Regardless of the method of application, you should first work on welded joints and hard-to-reach places with a brush. If you have hidden gaps and crevices in the steelwork, you must exclude the possibility of moisture penetration there. Various waterproofing operations can be used that will not contaminate the surface.
Methods of application
1. Paintbrush should be made of natural bristles. Care must be taken to keep the brush and other tools used clean. When applying paint with a paint brush, it is usually not necessary to use solvent.

2. Roller. The working part of this tool must be made of material which is resistant to xylene, or solvent (coal or petroleum solvent), organic solvents.
3. Pneumatic tools. The nozzles with diameter from 2 to 3 mm are applied for coating, pressure in system should be 0,22 to 0,3 MPa, or 2 to 3 bar. The allowable dilution of the composition with solvent or xylene up to 5% by mass.
4. Airless spraying of formulation. At using this method equipment must have the following parameters: nozzles with diameter from 0,38 to 0,63 mm or 0,015" to 0,025"; pressure in system may constitute from 8 to 12 MPa, or from 80 to 120 bar. Dilution with solvents by weight is permitted up to 4%.
5. Dipping in liquid zinc. Suitable containers of sufficient volume should be used, sufficient to accurately carry out the necessary work operations. It is important to stir the paint thoroughly periodically, at least every 20-30 minutes. The concentration of the mixture may be reduced by up to 15 % by weight with solvents.
You can choose the most convenient way of zinc paint application considering the tools available, construction dimensions and operating conditions. It should be taken into account, however, that a corrosion protection coating with a total thickness of 40 - 160 μm should be created as a result of successive layer-by-layer application. This will be sufficient to ensure lasting protection. If deformations are not expected to be significant during further use, a layer of up to 200 μm thickness is acceptable at most.
