Zincor is a composition for cold galvanizing of metal. The principle of this method is a comprehensive protection against corrosion, namely providing active (cathodic) and passive (barrier) protection.
Zincor contains 96% of zinc, which increases the anti-corrosion effect of the coating. As the first layer performs the function of cathodic protection of the metal. The surface insulating layer protects the coating itself from negative factors. The period of protector protection depends on the number of layers and the operating conditions of metal structures. For example, a zinc layer of 40-60 microns retains its anti-corrosive properties for up to 20 years.
Zinc has a high corrosion resistance and is an active metal with a negative electrode potential. When two metals come into contact, the active element (zinc) corrodes first. It gives its electrons to less active metals by constantly reducing them. Thus, as long as a zinc layer remains on the surface, iron, steel and cast iron will not rust. The method is called electrochemical corrosion protection or cathodic protection.
If the protective coating is made of a metal with a more negative potential than the base layer, it is anodic. If obtained from a less active metal with a positive potential, the coating is called a cathodic coating. When in contact with negative factors, the zinc anode is the first to react with them and give up its electrons. The iron-cathode receives them and receives anti-corrosion protection. The process continues until the zinc layer has completely thinned.

Barrier protection is a passive method of corrosion protection of metals. It works on the principle of mechanical isolation of the top layer from moisture and oxygen. The advantage of zinc is that even damage to the outer coating does not cause the spread of rust.
If there is a scratch or chip on the surface, the zinc oxidation process begins. The defect is covered by a white layer of zinc oxide, which localizes the corrosion. Another advantage is the absence of under-film corrosion. With conventional paints, damage to the paint layer inevitably leads to rust on the metal.
