Forging paints for metal

Forging paints are special formulations to protect forged ferrous metal products against corrosion and external damaging factors. When used externally, corrosion protection treatment of metals is mandatory. This applies to garden furniture, lattices, canopies and lanterns. For interior applications, zinc spray can be used to create a thinner layer. Cold galvanizing does not require a complex technological process. It can be performed in the workshop or outdoors.
 

Forging paints for cold galvanising

Heavy duty protection of metals is provided by forging paints with zinc. With a high zinc content (from 95%) they keep their properties for up to 50 years.

• Zincor is a zinc-rich primer for artistic forgings. Contains 96% zinc and creates long-term protection of metal against corrosion (from 10 years per coat). Creates active and passive protection of metals in different environments. Restores previously galvanized surfaces, suitable for welds. Used as a primer or as an independent coat. It is not tintable in grey colour, but compatible with most decorative paints. It is available in different pails.
   
• Zincor Spray is an anti-corrosive paint in spray cans. Easy to use zinc compound for local painting, does not require any special skills. Widely used in restoration work and in the manufacture of wrought irons. Creates a thin, quick-drying layer on the metal surface.

Advantages of forging paints

Economical. Products can be treated immediately after production in the forge or on site. No dismantling or expensive processes are required. Paint can be applied by yourself without the need for specialist craftsmen.

Versatility. Cold galvanizing can be used on steel, iron, cast iron and other ferrous metals. The process also has the advantage that weld seams can be painted. Large and small parts can be processed.

Durability and vandalism. Forging paints not only create surface (barrier) but also internal (cathodic) protection of metals. The coatings become resistant to moisture and UV rays as well as to impacts, abrasions and scratches.

High adhesion. Unlike hot-dip galvanizing, the adhesion to the substrate is not affected by the steel grade. The coating can be applied in a wide temperature range. If the technology is observed, it retains its protective and decorative properties for 10 years if applied in one layer.

Fast drying time. The first coat cures in 20-30 minutes. This is a record saving time for the production or restoration of wrought iron. After drying it is possible to reapply the paint or coloured varnish.

Convenience of packing. Forging paints for metal are available in buckets or in aerosol cans. Depending on the area of application it is possible to choose the necessary litres. For small and shaped products it is more convenient to use sprays.
